Method 1. Using command prompt
We recommend you to use command prompt method for short music files. If you want to convert a long music file, then you should use method 2.
1. First of all, we need to lower the volume of the music file. The volume of sound should be below the 6 dB. We will use the paid software program Sound Forge Pro 14 . Go to the menu File->Open. Select the MP3 format file which you want to convert and click on Open button.

Go to menu Process->Volume.

Adjust the volume. It must be below 6dB. If your AD4 format sound file has volume beyond the threshold lines (6 dB), your sound may stop at any time. If you lower the volume, the sound will play without any problem. Click on OK button.

Before volume adjust:

After volume adjust:

Convert your MP3 format file to WAV format file. If you have a stereo MP3 file, convert it to 16 bit Mono. Go to he menu File->Save as. Click on Custom.. button. Use the parameters: Format: PCM, Sample rate: 32000 Hz, Bit depth: 16, Channels: Mono. Click on OK button, then click on Save button. The WAV format file will be saved in the same folder as your MP3 format file.

2. Download AD4CONVERTER.exe. Double click on AD4CONVERTER.exe to see the command sets available.

3. Let’s say, for example, you have your WAV format file 001.wav and your AD4CONVERTER.exe file located here: C:\Audio . Open a Command prompt window. Go to the C:\Audio location. Write the command which should be in the following format:
AD4CONVERTER –E4 001.wav

A file 001.AD4 will be created.
Method 2. Using 4D SOMO tool (USBrecorder version 1.3)
1.Download and install the 4D SOMO tool for convertion of a MP3 format file or WAV format file to AD4 format file here.
2.Reduce the volume and convert to WAV format file the same way as it was described in Method 1. Or you can reduce the volume of the MP3 format file and save it.
3.Open the USBrecorder version 1.3. Select local file tab. Let’s say, for example, you have your WAV format file 001.wav located here: C:\Audio. Go to this folder.
4.Select WAV below, make sure that sample rate is 32000 and click on AD4Encode button. Select the MP3 if you will convert MP3 format file to the AD4 file format.

You will see the message on the right: Encoding WAV file… complete. Click on Exit button. A file 001.ad4 will be created in the same folder with the initial WAV or MP3 format file.
